Equality and diversity ‘affects’ and is ‘owned’ by everyone. It influences many aspects of business, including frontline customer facing activities.

This short online course, which has been developed in partnership with the Housing Diversity Network, is aimed at all contractors and trades people, particularly those working with social housing providers.

We live in a diverse society and it is therefore essential that we understand how our actions can affect our customers. The term ‘equality and diversity’ often causes confusion and its workplace definition can be different to what an individual contractor thinks it should mean. This training will provide you with a common sense approach to what is often seen as a complex topic and will ensure that you know how to respond in everyday situations without breaking the law.

This course has been developed to help you apply a common sense approach to equality and diversity.

On completion of this module learners will be able to:

  • Say what equality and diversity means
  • Explain how equality and diversity helps you do your job better
  • Recognise different terminology
  • Know how to respond in everyday situations
  • Identify what the law requires and how to make sure you don’t break it
